Kyrgyzstan Aims to Overcome Energy Crisis by 2026, Says Energy Minister

The Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Ibraev, addressed concerns about the challenging energy situation during a meeting with residents of the Issyk-Kul region. According to TuraNews.kz, the country has declared a state of emergency in its energy sector, TuraNews.kz reports citing Kabar Agency.

Ibraev stressed the need to construct solar and wind power plants to boost energy production. However, he highlighted that resolving land issues is a prerequisite for investors to initiate these projects. The Issyk-Kul region, in particular, has attracted substantial investments in the energy sector, making it a crucial opportunity that should not be overlooked.

The Ministry of Energy has already signed memorandums and cooperation agreements with various investors, and the focus is now on creating favorable conditions for the implementation of these projects. Ibraev emphasized the collaborative effort required to address this challenge, stating, “This is a problem that needs to be solved together. Therefore, we need to work closely on the development of the energy industry.”
