Kyrgyz-Turkish Anatolian High School: One school, four languages

Four languages are taught in the Kyrgyz Turkish Anatolian High School, which was opened in the capital Bishkek a year after Türkiye recognized the independence of Kyrgyzstan in 1991.

In the foreign language preparatory class of the school, education in Turkish and English languages is given in addition to Kyrgyz and Russian languages, Turanews.kz reports.

8th grade students who are Kyrgyzstan citizens are admitted to the Kyrgyz Turkish Anatolian High School which is preferred in order to learn the foreign language in the best way during school years and to prepare for higher education programs.

After a year of preparatory class in high school, grades 9, 10 and 11 are taught, and graduates are awarded a Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye high school decree.

“Last year, 730 students applied to the 50-person quota”

Kyrgyz Turkish Anatolian High School Principal Recep Akalın said that the High School offers the best opportunity to learn Turkish and English, as well as Kyrgyz and Russian.

“After the preparatory class,  9th, 10th and 11th grade students are having lessons mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, Turkish Literature, Kyrgyz Literature, Russian Literature, Turkish History, Kyrgyz History, Kyrgyz geography, computer science and as well as physical education classes.” he said.

Stating that high school students are at the top of the Kyrgyz Republic Knowledge Assessment Test (ORT), which is a compulsory exam for candidates applying to higher education institutions, held in May every year in the country, Akalın reminded that their graduates are studying at different universities in Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and around the world.

Pointing out that there is a great demand for this school by students and their parents, Akalın stated that the high school is preferred to better prepare for higher education programs.

Akalın said that in the Kyrgyz Turkish Anatolian High School, where approximately 280 students are educated, there are 8 Kyrgyz classes as well as 5 Turkish classes affiliated with the Bishkek Turkish School.

Reminding that the citizens of the Republic of Turkey are admitted to the high school without an exam, and the citizens of Kyrgyzstan are taken to the high school, Akalın said, “Last year, 730 students from Kyrgyzstan applied to the quota of 50 people.” said.
