In 2023, the Kyrgyz railway transported a total of 9.367 million tons of cargo, marking a notable increase of 1.345 million tons compared to the previous year.

This surge in cargo traffic was propelled by a 116.9% surge in imports and a 145.6% rise in exports compared to 2022.

Moreover, the company repaired 251 freight cars and 42 passenger cars.

In collaboration with European travel agencies, six tourist trains traversed the Silk Road route, contributing to the promotion of regional tourism.

Furthermore, the introduction of new luxury and VIP-class carriages led to a substantial increase in passenger transportation revenue, particularly on the Bishkek-Balykchy route, which soared from 2.3 million soms to 7.3 million soms in income.

To foster container transportation and broaden the scope of freight transportation geography, the Kyrgyz Republic introduced preferential rates for international multimodal transportation.

The state-owned enterprise is also venturing into new locomotive repair services, previously outsourced abroad.

Moreover, repair works were carried out at various railway stations across the country, aimed at infrastructure maintenance and improvement, ensuring the efficient operation of the railway network.
