Kyrgyz Government Head Resigns

On December 16, the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, resigned from his position.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree dismissing Akylbek Japarov, who also served as the head of the presidential administration, Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reported. The official document has not yet been made public.

According to 24.kg sources, the prime minister submitted a formal resignation letter. Kaktus.media speculates that Akylbek Japarov might be appointed as an advisor to the president.

The first deputy chairman of the cabinet, Adylbek Kasymaliev, has been appointed as acting head of government. Kasymaliev previously served as Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018.
