Korisu Kuni Celebration Spreads Joy Across Kazakhstan
Today, on March 14th, Kazakhstan observes the festive occasion of Korisu Kuni, which translates to "to meet each other" in Kazakh. On this day, people come together, exchanging warm greetings and well wishes, symbolizing the welcoming of spring and expressing respect for the elder generation.
Once confined to the western regions, Korisu Kuni now resonates throughout Kazakhstan, fostering unity and familial bonds.
The essence of Korisu Kuni lies in reinforcing familial and societal ties. It serves as an opportunity for reconciliation, as individuals seek forgiveness and bridge gaps between estranged relations. Many travel long distances to reunite with loved ones, while others convey their heartfelt wishes via phone calls or postcards.
As part of the tradition, seeking forgiveness and letting go of past grievances are customary exchanges. The prevalent phrases of the day are “Forgive me!” followed by the response “God will forgive, and I forgive!” This ritual extends beyond mere words, requiring genuine reconciliation and release of resentments.
