Kazakhtelecom to bring fiber-optic internet to Afghanistan
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Minister of Trade and Industry of Afghanistan Alhaj Nuriddin Azizi met in Astana to discuss ways to boost trade between the two countries, Turanews.kz reports.
The two ministers agreed to work together to increase the volume of trade from $1 to $3 billion. They also discussed the possibility of developing existing trade routes and creating alternative routes for the supply of goods through Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan is also considering the participation of domestic companies in other economic projects implemented in Afghanistan, especially in the transport, mining, telecommunications and agricultural sectors. In particular, in April of this year, after the visit of the Kazakh delegation to Kabul, JSC “Kazakhtelecom” signed a contract with the Afghan side to supply fiber-optic Internet to Afghanistan on a commercial basis.
In the educational area, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan are cooperating to increase the number of students from Afghanistan studying in Kazakhstan. Currently, there are 130 students from Afghanistan studying at KazNU. Al-Farabi.
The two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan and agreed to continue working together to further strengthen ties.
