Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev sends greetings on Abay Day

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Kazakhstanis on the occasion of the Abai Day, a national holiday that celebrates the life and work of the Kazakh poet, composer, educator, thinker, and public figure, Turanews.kz reports.

In a message posted on his official Twitter account, President Tokayev highlighted Abai’s tremendous contribution to the spiritual development of the nation. He said that Abai’s “Words of Wisdom” serve as a beacon for the rising generation and that it is our duty to hold sacred Abai’s inestimable heritage.

President Tokayev also said that Abai’s ideas are still relevant today and that they can help guide Kazakhstan on its path to progress. He called on all Kazakhstanis to follow Abai’s example and to work together to build a strong and prosperous nation.

The Abai Day is a public holiday in Kazakhstan and is celebrated on August 10, the birthday of Abay Kunanbayev. The holiday is marked with cultural events and performances, as well as lectures and discussions about Abai’s life and work.

Abay Kunanbayev is considered one of the most important figures in Kazakh history and culture. He was a pioneer of Kazakh literature and is credited with introducing Western ideas to Kazakh society.
