Kazakhstan’s President Donates Bus to a School in Bishkek

A ceremonial event was held in Bishkek as Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gifted a school bus to Gymnasium No. 33, where his father once studied.

The event was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, Parliament, Ministry of Education, City Hall, diplomatic corps, cultural figures, students, and teachers.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Rapil Zhoshybayev, highlighted the symbolic importance of the event, especially in the year marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.

— This school played a vital role in our shared history. During World War II, it housed the Frunze Infantry School, training cadets from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. This bus, presented on behalf of President Tokayev, is a tribute to his father’s alma mater and symbolizes care for future generations, support for education, and belief in a prosperous future, — said the ambassador.

During the event, the Kyrgyz translation of Tokayev’s book “Reflections on My Father” (Aтам жөнүндө баян) was also introduced, with a commemorative copy presented to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

Additionally, the Kazakh ambassador announced that three graduates of Gymnasium No. 33 would receive full scholarships, including dormitory accommodation, at Satbayev University in Almaty.

School director Taalaikul Ashimova expressed deep gratitude, emphasizing the gift’s importance in preserving historical memory and strengthening ties between the two nations.
