Kazakhstan’s Nuclear Power Plant Construction to Provide Jobs for Over 10,000 People
Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliyev, revealed how many people would be employed in the construction of the nuclear power plant following the results of the nationwide referendum.
After Kazakhstan held a referendum on October 6, 2024, and the public voted in favor of building a nuclear power plant, the country began preparations for the project. During a weekly government meeting on January 8, 2025, Minister Satkaliyev disclosed the number of workers expected to be employed in the construction.
According to Satkaliyev, approximately 5,000 people will be employed under the “Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project” by 2030. The number is expected to rise to 10,000 by 2032. “During the operational phase, at least 2,000 people will be employed,” the Minister stated.
Kazakhstan held a referendum on October 6, 2024, regarding the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant. A large majority of voters supported the project by casting “yes” votes.
