Kazakhstan’s Largest IT Hackathon to Kick Off on March 27

Kazakhstan will launch its largest multi-location hackathon, Decentrathon 5.0, on March 27. The event will run through April 5 simultaneously in 20 cities, bringing together technology communities nationwide, according to the Ministry of Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence of Kazakhstan.

The official opening will take place in Shymkent as part of the inaugural Digital Qazaqstan national technology forum. This season, more than 3,000 developers and around 1,500 teams are expected to compete, focusing on two core tracks: Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence Zhaslan Madiyev said the platform has evolved into one of the country’s most influential IT arenas, fostering talent and strengthening AI expertise. He stressed the importance of engaging professional communities in developing domestic digital solutions during the Year of Digitalization and AI.

Following the opening ceremony, teams will continue their work online, spending nine days refining projects with expert mentorship before presenting their final solutions.
