Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry Discusses Cooperation Prospects with World Bank

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan engaged in discussions concerning future collaboration between Kazakhstan and the World Bank.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kairat Umarov, convened a meeting with Andrey Mikhnev, the World Bank Resident Representative in Kazakhstan, TuraNews.kz reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service.

The talks primarily focused on outlining potential areas of the World Bank’s involvement in Kazakhstan and identifying priorities for further partnership. Among the topics explored were the prospects for implementing various investment projects across key sectors of the Kazakh economy.

Kairat Umarov underscored the ongoing positive trajectory of the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship between Kazakhstan and the World Bank. He acknowledged the significant contributions made by the bank towards the socio-economic development of Kazakhstan. Umarov expressed confidence in the continued partnership between Kazakhstan and the World Bank, emphasizing the shared goal of supporting ongoing reforms aimed at achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

In response, Andrey Mikhnev highlighted the World Bank’s pivotal role as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan. He outlined the bank’s active involvement in the joint implementation of 10 projects valued at over 4 billion US dollars. Mikhnev also discussed ongoing efforts to develop new infrastructure projects aligned with the reform agenda set forth by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Both parties affirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation across various key areas, reflecting a commitment to advancing the socio-economic development agenda of Kazakhstan.
