Kazakhstan will increase exports to Turkmenistan in 80 commodity items

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan intend to increase the scope of mutual trade to the amount of 1 billion dollars, Jibek Joly reports.

The relevant agreement was approved by the leaders of two countries, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Last weekend, the parties signed 14 documents covering trade, energy, agriculture and other fields. The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that the implementation of the comprehensive program for strengthening bilateral cooperation until 2024 will contribute to deepening the trade and economic partnership of the two countries. The Turkmen leader noted that Ashgabat and Astana will continue major energy projects, in particular, the “Turkmenistan-China” gas pipeline project.

The parties are also interested in expanding the capabilities of the North-South railway corridor, which starts from Russia and extends to the Indian Ocean.
