The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Türkiye has doubled in the past two years, reaching $6.3 billion in 2022, this was announced by Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov, Turanews.kz reports.
Birzhanov said that the main exports from Kazakhstan to Türkiye are metals, while the main imports are textiles, machinery, and equipment. He also noted that there is a slight difference between the trade data of the two countries, which is about $12 million per year.
Türkiye is one of the main trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan, ranking third after China and Russia. The two countries have been working to further boost their trade relations, and the recent ratification of an agreement on the simplification of customs control procedures is expected to help achieve this goal.
The agreement, which was approved by the Senate of Kazakhstan on July 7, 2023, will streamline customs procedures and reduce the time and cost of trading between the two countries. It is expected to come into force in early 2024.
