Kazakhstan-Türkiye trade reaches $3.5 billion

Kazakhstan and Türkiye are aiming to boost trade and investment.

Foreign Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu made the announcement following a meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan. He said that Türkiye is Kazakhstan’s fourth largest trading partner, with trade turnover reaching $6.3 billion last year. For the first seven months of this year, trade turnover has reached $3.6 billion, Turanews.kz reports citing KazInform Agency.

Nurtleu said that the goal is to increase trade turnover without losing momentum. He also noted that more than 4,300 companies with Turkish capital operate in Kazakhstan.

“We have also achieved significant results in enterprises created by medium and small businesses. More than 4,300 companies with Turkish capital operate fruitfully in the country,” Nurtleu said. “At the moment, Türkiye has directly invested $4.7 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan and is one of the 10 largest investors.”

Nurtleu said that 31 investment projects are currently being implemented and 50 projects are being developed. He said that $112 million of Turkish capital has come to Kazakhstan and that both countries are interested in increasing investment in the future.

The Kazakh Foreign Minister also said that Kazakhstan has great potential in the green economy, information technology, space, and industry.

“Therefore, we are ready to provide full support to Turkish companies and entrepreneurs wishing to come to Kazakhstan,” Nurtleu concluded.

The Kazakhstan and Türkiye have a long history of cooperation and share many common interests. They are both members of the Organization of Turkic States and the United Nations.
