Kazakhstan to Operate Additional Trains for New Year Holiday Travel
Kazakhstan’s national passenger operator has announced the launch of additional train services ahead of the New Year holidays. According to Passenger Transportation JSC, the extra trains will accommodate around 23,000 travelers on high-demand routes.
The seasonal services will operate on the following routes:

No. 201/202 “Almaty-2 – Astana-1”
Departures from Almaty: December 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and January 2, 4 (2026).
Departures from Astana: December 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31 and January 3, 5 (2026). -
No. 203/204 “Astana (Nurly Zhol) – Shymkent”
From Astana: December 20, 23, 26, 29 and January 2 (2026).
From Shymkent: December 22, 25, 28, 30 and January 4 (2026). -
No. 257/258 “Aktobe – Astana (Nurly Zhol)”
From Aktobe: December 20, 23, 26, 29 and January 2 (2026).
From Astana: December 22, 24, 28, 30 and January 4 (2026).
The additional trains will operate with standard sleeper and open-plan carriages.
In addition, extra wagons will be attached to existing trains on the busiest routes, providing over 30,000 additional seats during the holiday period.
