Preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games which will be held in Astana on September 8-15, 2024, were discussed at a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the country Altai Kulginov, Turanews.kz reports citing Primeminister.kz.
Primeminister Kulginov pointed out that President Tokayev instructed to organize a landmark event for the country at the highest level. It should be noted that the application of Kazakhstan to host the games was unanimously supported by the Turkic community.
Teams from all over the world are expected to participate in the World Nomad Games, even from those countries that were not traditionally nomadic. Competitions will be held in such Kazakh national sports as Kazakh kuresi, kokpar, kusbeglik, asyk atu, audaryspak, togyzkumalak, as well as many others cultivated in foreign countries, but having common roots.
The main organizer of sports competitions is the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Association of National Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides great support.
“In order the 5th World Nomad Games to be held at a high organizational level, it is necessary to start preparations from today. In our country, special attention is paid to national sports, the state actively supports them. In this regard, the Nomad Games will undoubtedly arouse great interest among Kazakhstanis. Of great importance is also the opportunity to demonstrate not only sports prowess, but also openness and hospitality, to share the rich cultural heritage of our ancestors,” Altai Kulginov said .
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the ministries concerned to determine the organizational and legal form of the social directorate for holding the games in the near future, submit an action plan and the composition of the republican organizing committee for approval.
