Kazakhstan President Addresses Boao Forum, Emphasizing Asia’s Role in Global Economy

The 23rd Boao Forum for Asia commenced under the theme "Asia and the world: common challenges, common responsibility," with the President of Kazakhstan delivering a keynote address as an honorary guest.

Highlighting the forum’s significance as a platform for international dialogue amid unprecedented global uncertainty fueled by geopolitical tensions and economic shocks, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscored the pressing need for new development paradigms in the face of sluggish global GDP growth rates.

Asia’s pivotal role in driving global economic growth was emphasized, with the continent projected to contribute 60% of global GDP growth this year. President Tokayev hailed Asia’s dynamic economies, robust trade networks, and technological prowess, identifying it as a beacon of “Asian Renaissance.”

Acknowledging the Boao Forum’s role in fostering economic progress, particularly exemplified by China’s commitment to global development, President Tokayev lauded Kazakhstan’s partnership with China. Kazakhstan has emerged as a key trade and economic partner within the region, with significant contributions to the “One Belt, One Road” initiative facilitating East-West connectivity.

President Tokayev outlined Kazakhstan’s ambitious economic growth targets and structural reforms aimed at fostering a more dynamic and transparent economy. He invited Asian partners to invest in Kazakhstan, thereby fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.

Amidst global challenges, President Tokayev called for concerted efforts to establish a fair and open multilateral trading system and enhance sustainable financing mechanisms. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to leveraging its agricultural potential to ensure global food stability and advocated for the expansion of transit and transport cooperation among Asian countries.

Furthermore, President Tokayev underscored the importance of technological cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence, and highlighted Kazakhstan’s interest in collaborating with Asian technology giants.

In conclusion, President Tokayev reiterated Asia’s potential to shape the world’s future and invited participants to engage in the upcoming Astana International Forum in June. Other notable speakers at the Boao Forum included global leaders and dignitaries from various sectors.
