“Today, world has undergone major changes. In this regard, a special attention should be paid to issues of internal security, strengthening the defense capability, increasing the authority of Kazakhstan and the entire Central Asian region in the international arena.”
This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at an expanded meeting on the socio-economic development of the country.
“It also requires completely new approaches to ensuring national security. Therefore, the relevant Strategy should be updated. The Concept of the country’s foreign policy, which was adopted in completely different geopolitical conditions, also needs to be updated,” Tokayev said.
According to him, rapid changes are taking place not only in science and technology, but also in social relations.
“Approaches to public policy are acquiring a completely new vector of development. All this, of course, requires decisive and dynamic action on our part. You can’t just sit and wait by the sea for the weather. To solve all the tasks set, we need to immediately start work,” the President noted.
In addition, the leader of Kazakhstan announced the need to revise all instructions for their relevance. “We don’t need paperwork,” Tokayev stressed.
“Taking into account the latest global trends, I instructed to update the 2050 Strategy. This will be a document defining a long-term vision and key priorities for the socio-economic and socio-political development of the country. I believe that the current National Development Plan until 2025 has also exhausted its potential. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new document that will outline the main goals and objectives for the medium term,” Tokayev added.
