Kazakhstan plans to increase oil supplies through Azerbaijan pipeline

Kazakhstan aims to increase the volume of oil supplies via Azerbaijan pipeline, Turanews.kz reports.

This was stated on Monday by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a media briefing following talks with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev.

Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan pays special attention to building up cooperation in the field of energy and the priority task is to further diversify the supply of energy resources to world markets.

“We paid special attention to building up cooperation in the energy sector. Today, our priority task is to further diversify energy supplies to world markets. As you know, the first batch of Kazakh oil was shipped through Azerbaijan this year thanks to our agreements between two countries. The next step is to increase the volume of deliveries and give them a long-term, stable character,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan plans to increase the export of its oil through the territory of Azerbaijan by 2026 to 15 million tons. In March, a test batch of 6,900 tons of oil from Kashagan was successfully shipped in the port of Aktau for export to Baku.
