Kazakhstan has just unveiled the brand-new city of Alatau, spanning a whopping 88 thousand hectares and home to 52.7 thousand people. This move comes in response to the President’s directive, with the Ministry of National Economy playing a key role in making it happen, TuraNews.kz reports.
The goal of Alatau is clear: to give the region a modern makeover by improving roads, infrastructure, and creating jobs. This initiative is expected to attract investments, bring in new technology, and boost the local economy.
In tandem with this, the government has expanded a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), now covering the entire Alatau city and part of Konaev. The SEZ is set to host over 170 projects, creating a whopping 110 thousand jobs and attracting significant investments.
Projections suggest that once these projects hit their stride, they could contribute a substantial 47.3 trillion tenge to the economy, with a multiplier effect of 17 trillion tenge. This is a major boost for the region, with every public investment of 1 tenge attracting an impressive 3.8 tenge in private investment. Kazakhstan is on the path to economic growth and prosperity with the birth of Alatau.
