Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan Sign Energy Sector Protocol

A protocol has been signed by the heads of energy departments from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, focusing on cooperation in the water and energy sector.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, the document was finalized following a meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Isyk-Kul region, Kyrgyzstan.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed collaborative solutions to address the energy deficit in Central Asian countries and enhance strategic initiatives,” stated the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.

The event was attended by:

  • Taalaibek Ibraev, Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan
  • Almasadam Satkaliev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan
  • Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan
  • Samir Veliyev, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan
  • Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan
  • Shavkat Khamrayev, Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan
  • Other officials

The participants also discussed the rational use of water and energy resources and the import of electricity to Kyrgyzstan from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Russia for the autumn-winter period of 2024-2025.
