Kazakhstan is in need of an alternative taxi service in the country and for this, it seeks to attract one more global taxi services company to the market. The Minister of Digital Development of Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin stated that at the Majilis meeting.
The Minister noted that today in Kazakhstan the taxi services is under a monopoly.
Deputy Elnur Bisembayev said that more than 500,000 Kazakhstani people work in various online services, including about 200,000 people who earn their living through the Yandex Taxi application,
“Yandex takes a commission of 18-20% from the taxi drivers, which is too much. Two hundred thousand Kazakh citizens pay commissions to a foreign budget, why is not there an Kazakhstani company in the market? What’s going to happen to those 200,000 taxi drivers if Yandex Taxi got sanction and would made a desicion to suddenly stop all his services tomorrow?” he said.
