“Kazakhstan Enhances Tourism with QR Codes and Smart Travel Solutions”

Foreign citizens arriving in our country can use a QR code to access services such as guides, taxis, purchasing SIM cards, and so on.

This was announced by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ermek Marzhikpaev.

“A comprehensive effort is underway to digitize the tourism industry. For the convenience of foreign tourists, we offer the use of a QR code when crossing the border. With its help, one can find guides, taxi fares, buy a SIM card, and much more. Additionally, work will continue on creating a unified information database towards digitizing the activities of guides and tour guides,” said Ermek Marzhikpaev at an expanded meeting of the department’s collegium.

Furthermore, according to the minister, the implementation of the innovative comprehensive platform “Smart Travel” based on advanced artificial intelligence technologies is planned, which combines online search and booking, analysis of requests, and the functionality of a virtual assistant in the tourism sector. Kazakhstan is being developed on the platforms “Kazakhstantravel” and “eQonaq.”

“We recommend using the eQonaq platform for the visa application process, which eliminates the human factor. Simultaneously, work is underway to grant permission to cross the state border based on an electronic visa at land border crossing points. Currently, entry into the country with an electronic visa is only possible through the international airports of Astana and Almaty,” added the head of the department.
