Kazakhstan Drafts Changes to Speed Up Residence Permits for Certain Professions

Kazakhstan is considering amendments aimed at expediting the process for certain specialists to obtain residence permits in the country. A draft proposal has been unveiled on the Open Legal Entities portal, outlining adjustments to the List of in-demand professions.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, in collaboration with other ministries including Health, Culture, Information, Digital Development, and Aerospace Industry, is spearheading this initiative. The proposed changes seek to enhance the ease with which foreigners in specified professions can secure permanent residence in Kazakhstan.

The revised list encompasses a variety of fields including healthcare, natural sciences, manufacturing, IT, innovation, and aerospace, among others. Currently, the list includes a total of 51 in-demand professions, as suggested by various government bodies.

Under the proposed amendments, foreigners employed in professions listed will benefit from a streamlined process to obtain residence permits through internal affairs bodies. These permits are slated to have a validity period of 10 years or for the duration of the passport.
