Kazakhstan Braces for Extreme Weather: Torrential Rains in the North, Scorching Heat up to 46°C in the South

Согласно прогнозу на 17–19 июля, на большей части территории страны пройдут дожди с грозами из-за влияния атмосферных фронтов.

Kazakhstan is set to experience dramatic weather shifts this week, with intense rains and hail expected in the north and severe heat in the south, according to Kazhydromet.

Between July 17 and 19, unstable weather conditions will prevail across much of the country due to passing atmospheric fronts. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for July 17 in the west, July 18 in the northwest, and July 18–19 in northern and central regions. Some areas may also see hail.

Temperatures will vary sharply across the country:

– +41 to +44°C in the west and southwest,
– +42 to +43°C in the southeast,
– Up to +40°C in the northwestern and central regions on July 18,
– An intense heatwave of +45 to +46°C is expected in the south on July 18–19.

Meanwhile, northern regions will see a sharp drop in temperatures by the end of the period — with nighttime lows of +8 to +18°C and daytime highs of just +17 to +25°C.

Meteorologists have warned that such extreme heat could worsen working conditions. Authorities have issued health and safety recommendations for dealing with high temperatures.
