Kazakhstan Braces for Extreme Heat with Temperatures Expected to Soar to +46 Degrees

Kazakhstan is anticipating severe heat in the coming days, with temperatures predicted to reach unprecedented highs across the country.

Kazhydromet, the national weather service, has forecasted extreme heat due to the influx of hot air masses from the Iranian Plateau region. From June 24 to 26, temperatures in some areas are expected to soar to between +40 and +46 degrees Celsius. Even in the northern regions, typically cooler, daytime temperatures on June 27 could reach up to +38 degrees Celsius.

“Despite forecasts of rain in western and northern regions on June 25-26, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas, the heat is expected to intensify across the republic by June 27,” Kazhydromet stated on its website. “Daytime temperatures in northern Kazakhstan could rise to a scorching +35 to +38 degrees, while southern regions could experience extremely intense heat of +40 to +46 degrees.”

The weather service also issued warnings for high to extremely high fire risks throughout most parts of Kazakhstan.

Reflecting on historical weather records spanning about two centuries, Kazhydromet noted that the highest temperature ever recorded in Kazakhstan occurred on July 1, 1995, in the Kyzylkum desert, reaching a blistering +51 degrees Celsius.

As Kazakhstan prepares for these extreme weather conditions, authorities are urging residents to take precautions to stay safe and avoid outdoor activities during peak daytime temperatures.
