The Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Arman Shakkaliev, engaged in discussions with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, TuraNews.kz reports.
The talks focused on enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on the agreements outlined in the Road Maps. These agreements were signed during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in December 2022, aiming to boost the trade turnover between the two countries to $10 billion.
The discussions also highlighted the upcoming IV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Samarkand. Following the meeting, a protocol on the expansion of mutual cooperation was signed, underscoring the commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations.
During his visit to Tashkent, Minister Arman Shakkaliyev toured the production sites of Technopark LLC. The showcased industrial enterprises focus on producing high-tech and competitive products for both domestic and international markets.
It’s noteworthy that, as part of the 20th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation in May 2023, the Ministry organized a successful trade mission in Tashkent. This initiative resulted in the signing of export contracts worth over $44.1 million, covering construction materials, confectionery products, IT services, and dairy products.
In a significant development in December 2023, the “MCPC – Central Asia” industrial zone was established at the Kazakh-Uzbek state border, aiming to boost the export of domestic products to Uzbekistan. Ongoing efforts are directed towards creating and enhancing new infrastructure to facilitate this expansion.
As of the 11th month of the previous year, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan stood at $4.1 billion, showcasing the current economic collaboration between the two Central Asian nations.
