Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Launch New Flight Routes and Joint Silk Road Tours

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are intensifying cooperation in tourism and transport, introducing new air routes and joint travel products along the Silk Road, Primeminister.kz reports.

Starting 1 December, SCAT Airlines will operate regular flights from Turkistan to Bukhara, Urgench (Khiva) and Samarkand. Each route will run three times a week, with one-way fares set at 40,000 tenge. Ticket sales are already open.

During the initial phase, flights will receive state subsidies to build stable passenger demand. The launch of these routes aims to strengthen regional connectivity, promote major Silk Road destinations and attract more international tourists.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has also unveiled a new Central Asian Silk Road tour concept. The itinerary includes key cultural and historical cities such as Almaty, Shymkent, Turkistan, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, highlighting shared heritage and natural sites.

The first tour to Samarkand has been introduced with travel operator Kompastour, while negotiations with other companies are ongoing to expand the list of regional tours.

In 2026, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan plan to explore joint marketing initiatives to promote the two countries’ combined tourism potential on the global stage.
