Kazakhstan is set to launch its inaugural "Silk Road" railway tour. The first trip on the route "Almaty – Turkestan – Tashkent – Almaty" will depart on November 16, 2024, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The international railway tour, lasting four days, offers tourists a chance to explore the ancient cities and retrace the steps of the historic Silk Road. The itinerary includes major attractions in Turkestan and Tashkent, with guided tours, meals, transportation, and entrance fees all included for a convenient travel experience.
“This unique railway tour, created through collaborative efforts, bridges two countries. It offers a comfortable and accessible journey for citizens and international tourists eager to discover the rich spiritual and historical heritage of the region,” stated Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports. “This is an important step in developing tourism and strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.”
Travelers on the tour will visit Otrar, one of Central Asia’s oldest cities and a key trade hub on the Silk Road. The tour program also includes stops at the Arystan Bab Mausoleum, the Azret Sultan Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, and the Caravanserai complex, the largest tourism complex of its kind in Central Asia. In Tashkent, participants will experience not only the city’s historical sites but also its modern developments.
The tour is being launched by Passenger Transport JSC in collaboration with TauKomek Travel, Turan Kazakhstan Travel, Grand Soluxe Travel Company, SkyWay Travel, Kompas, and Khan Turan Travel. Kazakh Tourism JSC will promote the route internationally, helping to attract more global visitors to this new and culturally rich journey.
