Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Enhance Collaboration in Railway and Sea Transport
Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan convened the inaugural meeting of the joint working group focused on the development of transport, transit, and logistics in Ashgabat, TuraNews.kz reports.
Representatives from both nations expressed optimism about the establishment of a flexible and competitive tariff policy within the railway sector. The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan disclosed that the parties reached a consensus on collaboratively advancing the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran corridor.
Following the discussions, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan formalized their commitment to transportation connectivity by signing a protocol and memorandum.
The signed documents outline plans for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the realms of railway and maritime transport. The key elements of the collaboration include a commitment to increasing transportation volumes across both nations, emphasizing the establishment of favorable tariff conditions. The parties also pledged to undertake joint initiatives for harmonizing infrastructure development and incorporating digital solutions for the mutual exchange of information.
During the working trip to Ashgabat, Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastaev participated in an international conference on sustainable development. The conference provided a platform to delve into pertinent issues within the transport industry, aligning with the broader discussions on fostering sustainable development. The outcomes of these collaborative efforts signal a positive trajectory for the transport sectors of both Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
