Kazakhstan and Türkiye to Cooperate in Plant Safety

The Parliament of Kazakhstan has approved an agreement on cooperation with Türkiye in the field of plant quarantine and protection.

In a general session of the lower house of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, the agreement signed between the competent authorities of both countries in Ankara on May 10, 2022, was discussed.

The agreement aims to ensure plant safety and prevent the movement and importation of quarantined harmful organisms on the territories of both nations. It was approved in the first session.

As part of the agreement, the parties will share regulations regarding plant quarantine, the list of harmful organisms subject to quarantine, and other related rules for plant protection.

Kazakhstan and Türkiye  will also exchange information on plant health status, cases of detection and spread of quarantined harmful organisms, and methods for combating and controlling them.

The agreement will also promote scientific cooperation between research institutions in the field of plant quarantine and protection. Furthermore, it will regulate the requirements for the import and export of products in this field.
