Kazakhstan and Türkiye Strengthen Strategic Partnership: President Meets Chairman of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye
The President of Kazakhstan held a meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, to discuss enhancing the already robust strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and hailed Kurtulmuş’s visit to Kazakhstan as a significant event. The Akorda press service reported the discussion.
The President highlighted the symbolic significance of the meeting, coming on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two nations. He mentioned the recent telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, underscoring the fruitful dialogue and close ties between the countries. Kazakhstan and Türkiye are among each other’s top trading partners and investors, with bilateral trade exceeding $6 billion last year. The President expressed optimism that trade turnover could reach $10 billion in the future.
In response, Kurtulmuş thanked Kazakhstan for its warm hospitality, referring to Kazakhstan as the ancestral land and the birthplace of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi, a revered figure uniting the Turkic world. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s ongoing reforms under the President’s leadership and expressed confidence in the country’s prosperity. Kurtulmuş stressed the potential for further cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan across various sectors such as trade, technology, industry, logistics, energy, and agriculture.
The leaders also discussed deepening cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States and other international organizations, reviewing the schedule of upcoming summit meetings.
In conclusion, the President expressed his anticipation for Turkish athletes’ active participation in the V World Nomad Games, to be held in Astana in September.
