Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Aydarbek Saparov, met with Nurmahmad Ahmadzoda, Director of the Agency for State Material Reserves under the Government of Tajikistan.

The parties discussed collaboration in food security and the development of agricultural cooperation. The Chairman of the Board of JSC “National Food Corporation,” Asylkhan Zhuvashev, also participated in the meeting, TuraNew.kz reports citing BasAgro.kz.

The primary focus of the talks was increasing grain exports.

Tajikistan is a traditional market for Kazakh grain. According to Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), Kazakhstan exported approximately 1.3 million tons of grain to Tajikistan in 2024, including 633,000 tons of new harvest grain. This represents a 57% increase in new harvest exports compared to the same period in 2023.

“We need to accelerate our efforts and increase export volumes. We also propose establishing flour supplies. We are ready to create all necessary conditions for cooperation,” emphasized Aydarbek Saparov.

Tajik representatives expressed interest in increasing supplies of sugar, vegetable oil, and meat.

The minister assured Tajikistan of Kazakhstan’s readiness to provide comprehensive support.

In conclusion, Aydarbek Saparov highlighted that the implementation of the discussed initiatives opens opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation and will contribute to strengthening food security in the Central Asian region.
