Kazakhstan and Russia hold 131st demarcation commission meeting

The 131st meeting of the Joint Kazakh-Russian Demarcation Commission was held on August 11-12, 2023, in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The meeting was co-chaired by Bakhyt Sultanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and Nikolay Tokarev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Turanews.kz reports.

The parties approved draft final demarcation documents for separate sections of the Kazakh-Russian state border. They also discussed a set of issues related to the designation of the state border line in its various sections.

The next meeting of the Commission will be held in September 2023 on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was a significant step forward in the demarcation of the Kazakh-Russian state border. The parties made progress on a number of difficult issues, and they agreed to continue their work in the coming months.
