During discussions with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mukhtar Tleuberdi, the two officials covered a wide range of bilateral cooperation topics, including political, trade, economic, investment, water-energy, transit-transport, and cultural-humanitarian interactions. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the alliance based on friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborly relations.
Tleuberdi emphasized that, thanks to the political will of both countries’ leaders, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have taken their relationship to a new level. A key milestone was the signing of an agreement during Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s official visit, furthering their alliance.
The foreign ministers reviewed the progress of agreements made during the 6th Supreme Intergovernmental Council held in April 2024, agreeing to continue enhancing interparliamentary and intergovernmental cooperation.
Both sides highlighted the importance of expanding economic ties, with Kazakhstan ranking as one of Kyrgyzstan’s top three trade partners. Bilateral trade has remained above $1.5 billion, and they aim to increase it to $3 billion through initiatives such as the Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex at the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border.
They also discussed opportunities for joint projects in energy, transport, and logistics. Notably, Kazakhstan has invested over $1.3 billion into Kyrgyzstan’s economy.
Cultural and humanitarian ties were also a focal point, with successful events such as the Days of Kyrgyz Culture in Kazakhstan. This year, joint cultural initiatives like film days and the 3rd Kazakh-Kyrgyz Youth Forum are planned.
Finally, both ministers addressed regional and global issues, emphasizing close collaboration within multilateral organizations like the UN, SCO, and CSTO. They reiterated their commitment to regional stability and cooperation in Central Asia.
During his visit, Minister Kulubaev also met with Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
