Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan plan to increase trade turnover to $2 billion

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smayilov held talks with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan – Head of the Presidential Administration Akylbek Zhaparov. The meeting took place on the site of the 2nd economic forum “European Union – Central Asia” in Almaty, Turanews.kz reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of trade and logistics infrastructure, attracting investments, cooperation in the field of agriculture and water and energy and a number of other issues.

Alikhan Smayilov noted that trustful relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan based on mutual respect and good neighborliness are developing. By the end of 2022, bilateral trade turnover increased by 7.5% and exceeded $1.1 billion. The positive trend continues this year.

“Necessary measures are being taken to bring the volume of trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future. I believe that we will achieve this goal thanks to joint actions. The Government of Kazakhstan is ready to continue an active dialogue in all spheres of multilateral cooperation aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation,” Kazakh Prime Minister said.

In his turn, Akylbek Japarov noted that all issues on the bilateral agenda between the countries are being discussed and resolved in the spirit of mutual understanding, trust and support.

“I am sure that our meeting today will provide a good opportunity to discuss and define the future of bilateral cooperation,” Kyrgyz Prime Minister said.
