The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan during a working trip to Baku, TuraNews.kz reports.
Expressing gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the warm hospitality and the successful organization of the inaugural SPECA Summit, President Tokayev praised Baku as the “pearl of the Caspian region” and one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
During the meeting, President Tokayev extended congratulations to President Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for achieving territorial integrity in line with international law and UN Security Council resolutions. He attributed this historic accomplishment to President Aliyev’s strong leadership and wise policies, aimed at bolstering statehood, improving the well-being of the people, and enhancing Baku’s global standing.
Highlighting the positive trajectory of Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations, President Tokayev emphasized the emergence of new projects and the absence of any unresolved issues. Describing the two nations as natural strategic partners and practically neighbors across the Caspian Sea, he underscored the significance of the Joint Declaration on strengthening strategic relations and deepening allied cooperation, along with the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council.
President Tokayev, bringing a full-format delegation to Baku, considered the meeting an opportunity for intense negotiations and an exchange of views on a wide range of bilateral issues.
President Aliyev reciprocated the sentiments, expressing gratitude to President Tokayev for participating in the upcoming SPECA Summit. Describing the relationship between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan as that of good friends, brothers, and partners, he highlighted the increasing dynamics of contacts between the two nations.
President Aliyev extended an invitation for President Tokayev to make a state visit to Azerbaijan next year, further solidifying the deepening ties between the two countries.
The leaders discussed potential collaborations, including the construction of a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) along the Caspian Sea’s bottom, increased supply of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan, development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, and the implementation of projects in the energy and renewable energy sectors.
Cultural and humanitarian ties were also a focal point, with plans for Cross Culture Days of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the near future. The meeting demonstrated the commitment of both nations to strengthening their multifaceted cooperation across various domains.
