Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan Forge Ahead with Joint Energy Ventures
Astana hosted the 20th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, where Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan committed to launching fresh energy initiatives aimed at bolstering bilateral trade.
According to a statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy, the two nations are set to embark on new collaborative energy projects.
Representatives from both countries convened in Astana for the meeting of the commission, with Azerbaijan led by Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, serving as co-chair. Kazakhstan’s delegation was headed by co-chair Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev.
Shahbazov highlighted the productive nature of the session, emphasizing its focus on enhancing trade, fostering investments, and introducing novel joint ventures. The discussions also delved into energy resource transit, transportation and logistics cooperation, and collaborations within significant corridors like the Middle Corridor. Notable projects discussed included initiatives in green energy and the Trans-Caspian optical cable line project.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed outlining the discussed agreements. Moreover, it was decided that the 21st session of the commission will take place in Baku next year, underlining the commitment of both nations to continued cooperation and economic partnership.
