In his address, Ambassador Bayel highlighted the growing tourist flow between the two nations. Kazakhstan accounts for about 50% of Central Asian tourists visiting Azerbaijan and ranks sixth overall after Russia, Türkiye, India, Iran, and Georgia. He noted that Azerbaijan attracts Kazakh travelers with Baku’s charm, natural beauty, cultural closeness, and the availability of direct flights.
Bayel also emphasized the significance of a planned wellness complex on the shores of Lake Alakol in Kazakhstan, a project expected to be developed with Azerbaijani investment.
Deputy Maharramzade stressed the importance of boosting tourism in both directions, underlining that cultural exchange and closer ties between peoples are best fostered through travel.
Participants were especially engaged by presentations from Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency, Air Astana, and leading tour operators, who introduced new packages and routes highlighting the cultural heritage and natural attractions of both countries.
The forum also included B2B meetings and familiarization trips showcasing Quba’s tourism potential. The event confirmed the commitment of both nations to expand cooperation and opened the door to joint projects aimed at boosting visitor flows and enhancing the regional appeal of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
