Kazakhstan airlines set new revenue record in July

The income of air transport enterprises in Kazakhstan reached a record high of 80.5 billion tenge ($178 mln) in July 2023, according to the BNS ASPIR RK. The previous record was set in August 2022 at 73.6 billion tenge ($162 mln), Turanews.kz reports.

For the first 7 months of 2023, the total income of air transport companies amounted to 418.1 billion tenge ($925 mln), up from 276.8 billion tenge ($611 mln) in the same period of the previous year.

The increase in income was driven by two factors:

  • Increase in passenger traffic: The number of passengers transported by air in January-July 2023 was 7.3 million, up 26.1% from the same period of the previous year. July was the busiest month, with 1.38 million passengers.
  • Rise in airfares: Airfares have increased by 48.4% since the beginning of 2023. February (+21.5%) and April (+17.7%) saw the biggest increases. In July, airfares rose by 4%.
