Kazakhstan Advances Artificial Intelligence with New Training Programs and Partnerships
In a recent meeting, the President of Kazakhstan was briefed on several new initiatives aimed at enhancing the country’s higher education and scientific research systems.
According to the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Kazakhstan has now opened 25 branches of foreign universities, positioning itself as a key educational and scientific hub in the region. Agreements have been made to transform regional state universities into research institutions that meet international education standards.
This year has seen the rollout of new financial support tools for students, including the Unified Voluntary Savings System “Keleshek,” the “National Fund for Children,” preferential educational loans, and differentiated grants. These initiatives are designed to make higher education more accessible to all.
The minister also reported progress on the President’s directives for advancing artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, over 2,000 students are enrolled in AI programs across 8 universities, with 15 different educational tracks available. To bolster the digital economy’s talent pool, Kazakhstan has partnered with global companies such as Google, Nvidia, Coursera, 01 Edu System, and Huawei. The Bolashak program will offer 100 scholarships annually for AI specialists.
In conclusion, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued new instructions to further develop the infrastructure for higher education and research, including the construction of new dormitories.
