Kazakh wrestler wins gold at World Championships

Rizabek Aitmukhan, a freestyle wrestler from Kazakhstan, has won the gold medal in the 92 kilogram weight category at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. This is the first time a Kazakh wrestler has won the world championship in freestyle wrestling, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of Olympic.kz.

Aitmukhan defeated Osman Nurmagomedov of Azerbaijan in the final match. He had previously defeated wrestlers from Georgia, the United States, and Japan on his way to the gold medal.

Aitmukhan’s victory is a major achievement for Kazakh wrestling. The country has a strong tradition of wrestling, but it has not had a world champion in freestyle wrestling since independence in 1991.

Aitmukhan’s victory is also a sign of the progress that Kazakh wrestling has made in recent years. The country has invested heavily in developing its wrestling program, and it is now one of the top wrestling nations in the world.
