Kazakh QazaqGaz to start transporting Russian sas to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan’s state-owned natural gas company, QazaqGaz, has announced plans to start transporting Russian gas to Uzbekistan in October 2023. The announcement was made following a visit by QazaqGaz Chairman of the Board Sanzhar Zharkeshov to the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan, Turanews.kz reports.

QazaqGaz said that all technical activities are being carried out in full in accordance with the approved schedule. To date, a number of repair and restoration activities have been completed, including repair and restoration work on section No. 14 in the Mangistau region, which was completed ahead of schedule and in full. Passage pressure tests have also been successfully carried out. Repair and restoration work is currently being actively carried out at sections No. 2-No. 13 in the Atyrau region.

The decision to start transporting Russian gas to Uzbekistan is a significant one, as it will help to diversify Uzbekistan’s gas supplies. Uzbekistan is currently reliant on gas imports from Turkmenistan, and the new pipeline will give Uzbekistan another source of gas.

The pipeline is also a sign of the growing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. The two countries have been working together to develop the Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline, and the new gas supplies will help to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.
