Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit on Friday, at the invitation of President Emomali Rahmon, Turanews.kz reports.
During his visit, Tokayev is scheduled to participate in the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State, founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
Tokayev was met at Dushanbe International Airport by Tajik Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda.
The 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia is a high-level meeting of the leaders of the five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The meeting is expected to focus on a range of issues, including regional security, economic cooperation, and environmental protection.
The International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea is an intergovernmental organization established in 1993 to address the environmental and economic challenges posed by the shrinking of the Aral Sea. The fund is supported by the five Central Asian countries, as well as international donors.
