President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with UN Deputy Secretary General Vladimir Voronkov and Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council Natalia Herman today in Astana, Turanews.kz reports.
The meeting was held to discuss issues of ensuring regional security and stability, countering terrorist threats, and reforming the UN Security Council.
President Tokayev thanked the UN delegation for participating in the Central Asian Forum on Security and Cooperation, which was held in Astana on [date]. He stressed that Kazakhstan is committed to the Charter of the United Nations and believes that all UN member states should strictly adhere to its principles.
The UN officials highly appreciated the efforts of Kazakhstan in the fight against terrorism and emphasized that our country is one of the leaders of the counter-terrorist agenda of the UN.
Vladimir Voronkov noted the importance of holding the Security Forum in Astana, which became one of the platforms for the restoration of dialogue and trust, and the search for common solutions.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN in the fight against terrorism and other threats to regional security.
