Kazakh-Language ChatGPT Prototype Developed by Scientists
Researchers from the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) have successfully created a prototype of ChatGPT in the Kazakh language, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The development process spanned five months. According to the scientists, this chatbot prototype possesses the ability to analyze vast datasets, respond to inquiries, generate text, and is well-versed in the morphological and syntactic rules of Kazakh.
“We’ve built the initial large LLM language model in Kazakh. This system comprehends Kazakh contexts and provides accurate responses using neural network architecture. Our ChatGPT prototype not only grasps the intricacies of the Kazakh language but can also construct grammatically correct responses,” stated Alibek Barlybaev, director of the ENU Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.
The developers also tested the system’s proficiency in generating Kazakh literary works, regulatory documents, and scientific materials. They aim to integrate this artificial intelligence model into educational settings, facilitating students’ access to essential information.
“For instance, during exam preparations, students may encounter difficulties understanding mathematical equations or scientific terms in chemistry. With our system, they can seek quick and concise clarifications, especially when teachers are unavailable. Additionally, this technology could benefit elementary students undergoing general education courses,” Barlybaev elaborated.
Currently, scientists are strategizing the project’s further enhancement, focusing on bolstering its technical capabilities.
