Kazakh Judge German Nurbaev Elected as Chairman of the CIS Economic Court

German Nurbaev, a judge of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan and the CIS Economic Court, has been unanimously elected as the new Chairman of the CIS Economic Court. The decision was made during a plenary session held in Minsk, Belarus, with the participation of judicial representatives from CIS member states.

Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Supreme Court, Aslambek Mergaliyev, took part in the session and emphasized the important role of the CIS Economic Court in resolving interstate economic disputes. He highlighted the court’s modern ad hoc approach and its contribution to accessible justice and judicial mobility.

Mergaliyev was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the CIS Economic Court in recognition of his contributions to strengthening cooperation and advancing the court’s operations.

The appointment of German Nurbaev was a key moment of the session. His candidacy was praised for his high professionalism and extensive experience in the legal field. His election is seen as a milestone for Kazakhstan’s judicial system and a reflection of the country’s growing influence in regional legal institutions.

Kyrgyzstan’s Aybek Davletov was elected as Deputy Chairman of the Court.

Mergaliyev also expressed gratitude to outgoing Chairman Andrey Plotnikov for his productive leadership and efforts in the court’s development.

The CIS Economic Court, headquartered in Minsk, operates as a permanent international judicial body under the Commonwealth of Independent States, focusing on the resolution of economic disputes and interpretation of CIS legal acts.
