Kazakh Journalist Aydos Sadykov Dies in Kyiv
Kazakh journalist Aydos Sadykov passed away in Kyiv today, July 2, 2024, as reported by his wife, Natalya. She believes he died during the night.
“Aidos Sadykov said goodbye to this life today at 03:00 Kyiv time (05:00 Kazakhstan time)… Aidos fought for life in the intensive care unit for 13 days, but there was no miracle,” Natalya Sadykova wrote on her Facebook page.
On June 8, 2024, there was an attempt on Aydos Sadykov’s life in Kyiv. Initially, it was reported that he survived the attack but was in serious condition.
The Kyiv prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the attempted murder of the journalist. According to preliminary information, an unknown assailant approached the car where Sadykov and his wife were sitting, shot the journalist, and then fled the scene. The incident occurred near their home.
On June 19, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, made a statement regarding the assassination attempt on Aydos Sadykov. He emphasized that all conflicts and disagreements in society should be resolved within the legal framework, based on existing legislation and in accordance with international standards.
