Kazakh Film to Be Screened in Over 80 Cinemas Across Türkiye

A private screening of the Kazakh comedy "Pochty Macho" (Almost Macho) was recently held in Istanbul for representatives of the Turkish media.

Starting from August 11, the film will be shown to the general public in more than 80 cinemas throughout Türkiye, according to qazaqstan.tv.

Previously, only historical films from Kazakhstan had been translated into Turkish, making this the first time a Kazakh youth comedy is being presented to Turkish audiences. The film has received positive feedback, particularly for its engaging storyline about a young man named Damir, whose mother is eager to find him a bride.

“We believe that the more we learn about other cultures and their cinema, the more successful we will become. We have plans to promote Kazakh cinema not only in Türkiye but also internationally. Currently, a Kazakh-American co-production is in the works, featuring well-known actors from Hollywood, England, and Türkiye,” said the film’s producer in Türkiye, Nadira Akhonova.
