Kazakh and Vietnamese Leaders Reaffirm Strategic Partnership During Landmark Talks

Президент Касым-Жомарт Токаев провел переговоры с Генеральным секретарем Центрального комитета Коммунистической партии Вьетнама То Ламом в расширенном формате.

Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to support Vietnam’s long-term goal of joining the world’s top 25 economies by 2040. He noted that trade and investment ties have gained momentum, with bilateral trade reaching $860 million and plans underway to double it.

Tourism emerged as a key area of interest, supported by visa-free travel and over 40 direct flights. Tokayev proposed promoting Kazakhstan as a destination for Vietnamese tourists.

The two sides also discussed historical and cultural ties. Tokayev paid tribute to Kazakh military adviser Lieutenant General Zhansen Kereev, who played a pivotal role in strengthening Vietnam’s defense capabilities and was awarded the Red Banner Order by Ho Chi Minh.

To Lam conveyed warm greetings from the Vietnamese leadership and praised Kazakhstan’s ongoing support. The talks concluded with a shared vision of a new chapter in the two nations’ enduring friendship.
